My Ideal Teas

I’m both a coffee and tea lover. I simply try to limit my coffee intake to once a day. I then enjoy the rest of my time sipping good tea as a daily ritual or to enjoy watching series, reading, or writing. I have classic taste, but am not traditional when it comes to tea preparation. I don’t always boil water at the correct temperature. I mostly let my tea bag soak in my mug. I’m not too experimental neither; I have my key teas and favourite local distributor.

Camomile

I like rituals when they’re for the well-being. I systematically have a camomile every night before bedtime. It helps digestion and sets me up for a good night's sleep. I sometimes have camomile with lavendar and it tastes spectacular.

Jasmine

When growing up, I remember Jasmine tea was always served when we had dim sum or Chinese food with the family. It’s true that drinking tea after a fulfilling meal brings ease and warmth to the body. I’ve always liked that habit and wished that I had the same practice at home. Well, I’m making my younger self’s wish come true in my own home.

Genmaicha Matcha Tea

It’s a traditional Japanese blend of green tea leaves and grilled rice. The tea I get from my local distributor also uses sencha and matcha powder in the mix, which gives a more layered taste. I’m a fan of this blend for its herbal aspect and the roasted rice.

Turkish Tea

I feel like anytime is always a good time for a Turkish tea. It’s a good drink to have solo or in social contexts, especially when it’s served in a small glass and has a sweetness to it when adding sugar cubes.

Maghrebi Mint Tea

I’m more familiar with Moroccan mint tea. What I appreciate about it is the pungent perfume of spearmint that is infused with gunpowder tea and sugar. I can easily take this tea anytime and any day. However, this mint tea fits best after enjoying a good couscous or tajine.

Bubble Tea

Tea can come in many forms: a digestive, a refreshing drink when cold, or even as a dessert. In winter, I love a good roasted oolong milk tea with tapioca pearls. It’s sweet, warm, and very comforting. It’s like having dessert. In summer, I lean towards fruit juice tea like green tea with mango or passion fruit juice. I always take bubble teas with tapioca pearls; otherwise, what would bubble tea really mean?

High Tea

I don’t do enough high teas, yet I love the experience so much, the combination of good tea and small bites. Additionally, I get to dress up for the occasion. These are the rare moments where I let myself experiment and pick new tea, different flavours even with rose petals.

Sparkling Tea

Elevation is part of my curiosity. Recently, I’ve learned that this French company produces sparkling tea for people who would like to enjoy non-alcoholic sparkling wines or champagnes. I’m very interested in trying this out, but I would have to wait for my next trip to France to access the product, where they sell it.
