Resort Life

As much as we enjoy a dynamic urban itinerary when travelling, we sometimes need to slow down and enjoy the resort experience. It offers an appreciative break where your mind finally focuses to 3 main activities: relax, eat, and love. We’ve had 2 types of resort experiences.

Huatulco, Oaxaca

📍 Secrets Huatulco, Mexico

There’s no doubt that Mexico has plenty of beautiful beaches. Thanks to our Mexican friends’ recommendation, we felt Huatulco would be a great first destination for both of us to experience the beach scene. Authentic to the picture above that I took on site, this place has a magical scenery where the seashore is in a half-moon shape, hidden from other beaches. It’s a secluded location, and it’s so serene. It’s not over-crowded like in Cancun; it’s the new perfect destination for couples who are looking for some privacy.

Our room was at an eyeline level to the ocean, which made every morning a spectacular wake-up routine and every sunset moment delicious, especially from the swim-out pool seat on the terrace. With the spa set on top of the cliff, we had a tandem massage with a breathtaking panoramic view of the ocean.

📍 Estérel Resort, Quebec

Back home, we have the privilege to experience a northern resort within the beautiful nature of Quebec. Located in the Laurentians, the resort is secluded in the woods while facing the vast Lake Dupuis. Depending on the season, there are aquatic activities to enjoy, such as paddleboarding, kayaking, and pontoon rides; outdoor activities such as bicycle rides, yoga, and cardio dance classes. When the weather is cold, the Lido Thermal spa is a must; it’s an outdoor Finnish-style spa. You also get to try out their 3 restaurants that offer a diverse culinary experience: cook your own food on a hot stone, a convivial pub atmosphere, and a tasting menu in their wine cellar. All of their restaurants have seating with a 180° view of the lake.

We absolutely cherished our panoramic lakeview suite for our anniversary. Our room was spacious with a kitchenette, two terraces with a jacuzzi, a complete bathroom area where I enjoyed a nice bath sipping on prosecco, and bedding with romantic curtains that open the view to the fireplace for optimal intimacy between lovers.
